ABSTRACT:
In a recent article (Croat et al., 2016) a new species from Ecuador was described as Philodendron ellipticum. Later, however, it was discovered by the second author that this name was already occupied by a different species described by Engler (1905). For this reason we are providing a substitute name for the homonym Philodendron ellipticum Croat.
