Your mystery plant is undoubtedly a species of Medinilla, almost all species
have the typical pink and blue flower coloration. They make great house
plants becoming very large very quickly and need minimal care in a typical
centrally heated home and a sunny window. The commonest species in
cultivation is M. magnifica which has leaves about a foot or so in
length, rather leathery, almost succulent-like in texture.
