  Re: Titanum in conservatory

Could someone please explain why the titanum in Atlanta looks
as if it has a purple spadix and the one at Fairchild looks
like a cream spadix. Is it just reflection from the spathe?

And one more dumb question, what is the spadix composed of
that it could collapse so thoroughly and quickly? This has
been a fascinating time for me watching the growth of these
two flowers. Unfortunately, I know nothing about them and
it really would be nice to know more. Like how thick is
the spathe? Do they just grow from water in the tuber (corm)
or are they watered and fertilized like mad during their growth?
