  repotting anthuriums
From: "John S. Smolowe" johnsmolowe at ispchannel.com> on 2000.04.27 at 04:18:03(4445)
I have several anthuriums that I'm unsure how to pot. For example, a
healthy Obake in a 6" pot producing nice flowers. It has an 7" stem
(rhizome?), so it's getting a bit top-heavy. It has no offsets.

I could just put it in a larger pot, but I'm concerned that none of the
new roots has reached down to the potting medium in years; none is
longer than 1"

I could cut off the top with 4" of stem and repot to the level of the
medium, but I'm afraid I might kill it, and unsure if the stump would
pup.

Or I could unpot and cut off from the bottom 4" of stem and medium,
leave just the top 2" of stem, pot low in the new pot and fill with
medium from above.

Any tips?
