Another memory.... I was at an evening party many years ago at Bette|
Waterbury's home.... The party was in honor of Roberto Burle-Marx who was
visiting Bette.... I had the honor of going through the pages of the
Philo. section of Exotica with this great man.... As he pointed to picture
after picture and saying..... "I discovered that!" When he came to the
plant under discussion.... He said.... "I don't know why they have given
it a horticultural name..... It is a species. I know! I collected it!."
It is a memory I have cherished for a long time..... Just meeting this
great man was an honor.
