On the third day of the inflorescence opening, the pollen dehisced by extrusion in strands. The plastic film wrap and moist paper towel put in place the previous day to promote a high humidity environment around the spadix for optimum pollen germination has been removed.
This close-up clearly shows the extruded pollen strands characteristic of this species as well as others. Note how neatly the foil collar has caught the pollen for easy collection. |
