ABSTRACT:

A locasia G. Don is a genus of east Asian aroids that contains a number of species of considerable horticultural interest. Members of the genus range from India to Taiwan and New Guinea, but the center of distribution is the Malay peninsula and the Indonesian and Philippine archipelagoes. Alocasia is closely related to the asian Xenophya and Colocasia and to the American genera Xanthosoma and Caladium.
