Re: [Aroid-l] Amorphophallus lambii growing conditions
From: Marco Motta <marco.giovanni.motta at gmail.com> on 2011.02.12 at 13:14:41
Hi Bernhard,
I have also sowed Am. lambii from same source, they grow very well, still growing, when start to yellowish the leaf they sprout a new one.
I have in my greenhouse in a warm area with 20=B0C on the night and 25=B0c during the day, the humidity it from 60% to 80%, I have this seedlings with other Amorphophallus from Borneo and Malaysia.
I think that does not like too much heating on the bottom side, i think that no more than 25=B0C based on my experience, bottom heating help to germinate seeds but after germination it is better to remove or decrease.

Happy growing to all

Marco

Aroidrs,

last year I could get 4 lambii seeds form
http://www.rarepalmseeds.com/index2.shtml and I guess that they were
really lambii.

They germinated and grew happily till December and went dormant.
They were grown in a small plastic tunnel greenhouse in a wintergarden
on a heating mat.
Outside the plastic tunnel temperatures went down to 12 =B0C ( 53 =B0F ).
The temperature under the pot inside the tunnel was 30 - 32 =B0C ( 86 - 90
=B0F ); I did not take the air tempeature in the tunnel or the temperature
of the substrate in the pot.

The other day I checked the pot and found the rotted tubers ( 0.5 to 1
cm).

I learned from the archive that lambii was successfully grown from Craig
M. Allen, Fairchild Tropical Garden, and Reggie Whitehead, Florida.

Pease comment on my growing conditions and (even more interesting)
improvements.......

Happy growing, Bernhard.
