Dear Corey:

 =3B

I have sent this picture to my friends in Brazil asking them if they know what this plant is. =3B So far only Eduardo Goncalves has responded saying that he does not know it. =3B It would be nice to get a =93larger=94 image of this plant. Does anyone know just where in the Amazon region this species was seen?

Tom=2C I was the one who posted the first bit asking for more information on 'Burle Marx Fantasy' and provided the link. I figured if anyone was interested I would pursue either getting a higher resolution copy of that photo (which would be larger with more detail) and/or follow up with the company to get ahold of the photographer and ask the locality the photo was taken at. I am very interested in learning more about this species as a whole=2C and I am a researcher so anything to help science LOL.
Hermine - are we talking the same plant? I know there is a 'Burle Marx' (which I don't know much about but it is a large green plant that I'm not sure if it is a species or hybrid) and 'Burle Marx Fantasy' =3B which is a small=2C slow growing=2C grey-green leaf with darker markings on the veins. The photo is right on for my plant=2C if not a bit more green likely from processing (likely HDR or just trying to make up for low light). This is not the juvenile form of 'Burle Marx'=2C but a completely different plant from the same source. Often when I talk about 'Burle Marx Fantasy' there is confusion for those who haven't seen it=2C and I hope not to start or continue confusion over it. I don't even know if anyone has even managed to flower it.

I am laughing that you ask my permission! =3B Please=2C go and ask=2C with my blessings....by the way I later got some more Burle Marx from Jerry Horne in =3B Miami FL. sometimes i bought plants of the same advertised name in order to see if they were really the same. in fact=2C I still do this. I remember seeing this picture in EXOTICA in the Brooklyn Public Library reference section and having a conniption fit of desire over it. middle 1960's when i was sort of an infant.

Dear Hermine:
 =3B
I wanted to suggest that we send this to a couple of my friends in Brazil for their comments. Would this be ok with you?

Does anyone know the history of this plant? I found a stock photo of what looks like this species that may be growing in the wild....

I have grown Burle Marx for years=2C starting with some small plant I got at Roehr's in New Jersey in the late sixties. something about this photo looks highly massaged=2C and I do not know if it is colour enhancement or what=2C since I do not have those fancy programs to do that. =3B As I recall=2C many of us plant people in NY and Massachussets who had the greenhouse facilities=2C grew this plant and many of us got them from Roehr's Nursery in East Rutherford New Jersey=2C a magical place.
