I asked why "Indonesia" when there are no native
Philos in that land, and the guy says it's from some
great hybridizer over there...
Btw, isn't this the same seller who was really
controversial a year or two back ;-)

Thanks for the info., Denis, Greg is quite a breeder! I THINK that that
particular cross has been made in Miami years ago (Ron?), also P. stenolobum
X P. gouldii, and Joep had one 'happen' in his yard in Fr. Guyana, when
seedlings grown from P. gouldii seed turned out to have P. soliemoense
(spelling?), of which a huge plant was growing next to the P. goeldii, as
the 'Papa'! Joep named the very attractive hybrid offspring P. 'marijka'
after his wonderful wife. Several folks in Florida had plants of this.
If Poss., please reserve a couple of the P. stenolobum seedlings for me.

The plant for sale looks more like the 'P. x African
Fantasy' than the 'P. x willoum,' which Aroidia
Research says is the hybrid between P. stenolobum and
P. selloum.

Interesting point...btw, it's now up to $330!
It's interesting how these hybrids attract so much
interest...personally, i'll take a natural species
anytime over these conglomerations, but that's just my
opinion...this might be because i like visiting and
studying specimens (both plants and critters like
leafcutters) in the wild instead of just growing them,
who knows...it would be different if some of these
hybrids somehow "escaped" and formed dominant natural
breeding populations...now THAT - THAT would be
interesting ;-)

Sorry to be so late to answer this email. My email has been down.
This most likely is a Greg Humboli(? spelling), from Indonesia, hybrid
that was sold in Miami at the Tropical Fern and Exotic Plant Society
show and sale last June and believe me, it sold for much less than
this. Sometimes it pays to go to shows and get stuff first hand.
Richard Button had it for sale at the show. I feel certain Mr. Button
could give you more information about the plant. I believe he is listed
in the IAS roster.
