Re: [Aroid-l] Strange Amorphophallus Titanum Growth
From: Brian Williams <pugturd at windstream.net> on 2010.02.15 at 09:25:21(20593)
This growth could just be an injury on the stem being healed. It does
however remind me of a strange phenomenon I recorded last year of a
Colocaisa which was producing similar odd growths on the stems. This odd
growth swelled in the stem and eventually split the stem. once split a
new leaf formed out of the opening. I later found that a tuber had
formed in the stem causing the swelling. This variety of Colocasia seems
to be the only one I have seen that produces these mutations and it is
very erratic. Possibly ideal growing situations are at hand.
