  Re: [Aroid-l] Gonatopus soil tips?

Jason,

Gonatopus rhizomes tend to stay within a few inches of the surface, even breaking the surface at times. It is a fat, compact rhizome that branches occasionally and can "jump" the rim of the pot sometimes rather than circling the inside (it will do both). They are not fussy about soil. I use a sandy mix with some perlite and a little (15-20%) organic component. They require or benefit from a dry winter rest after they lose their leaves. G. boivinii seems to be better adapted to water any time of year.
