[Aroid-l] IAS newsletter Vol. 33, Number 2 June 2011 and Steve Lucas

June 2011 IAS Newsletter Unfortunately here in the temperate UK two mo nths between now and May 15th will be truly insufficient to complete any article on the growth of any tropical plants. My Remusatia and Typ honodorum - my subject matter for my next submissions to the IAS - are s till snugly housed in the heated propagator in my hallway, where the Typ honodorum are some foot high plus seedlings and the Remusatia are last year s dormant tubers just about being encouraged into regrowth. These p lants, certainly the Typhonodorums will not be risked outside until at l east June - our first true summer month. But hopefully come the end of the year I will have some interesting documentation on these rarer species f or submission. I believe Typhonodorum due to its true scarcity merits ma ybe even a place in the next Aroidana. Steve Lucas Carla is ab solutely right, Steve Lucas was a truly inspirational figure whose enthu siasm for aroids was nothing short of infectious. In the short space of time I knew him, he made me aspire to move on from Colocasia and Alocasia t o some extremely hard to find aroids. The above are certainly part of th is group and it will be a pleasure to submit writings on theseplants to the IAS, which was such a big part of Steve's life.
