Alocasia alba

I got this plant from Southern Exposure, sold as Alocasia crassifolia (which is a synonym of its proper name). It arrived as a piece of a leafless stem, but then started off quite vigorously.

This species originates in Java.

The first leaf is about 6 by 8 inches. The texture of the leaf seems quite similar to that of the large Alocasias (macrorhizos, portei, odora), but the leaf shape is quite distinct and, IMHO, prettier than any of the aforementioned.
The leaves are gorgeous: heavily crinkled, and very stiff.
