The series is known to be represented by a single species in Porto Rico and the Lesser Antilles. It is characterized by its thick stems, persistent intact cataphylls, subterete petioles, large cordate blades, several inflorescences per axil, and 4-6 locular, many ovulate locules. It is not represented in Central America.
