Growth is slowing. The Titan grew only 1” today. There is noticeable “inflating” of the spathe. Coloration continues inside the spathe, and the red coloring is becoming apparent on the outside where the spathe overlaps itself.

It still looks like we are on for Sunday or Monday, but more likely Monday. Our Cast is hoping for Monday so they will be here to see it. Titans that have bloomed in Florida in the past tend to show no vertical growth for 1 to 3 days prior to blooming. Unfortunately, another trend is that many Titans tend to open during the night. Some do open during the day, and we remain hopeful that ours will be one of those.

DID YOU KNOW: Many species of Amorphophallus emit an odor resembling rotting flesh when they bloom--but not all of them do. One species has a fragrance similar to apples, and another smells like chocolate when in bloom.

Later that Day, the Spathe Opened
