AroideanaVolume 48, Number 2 (September 2025) This issue presents significant new contributions to the taxonomy of Araceae. Croat and Mines describe forty new species of Philodendron, with twenty-seven from Colombia, eight from Ecuador, four from Peru, one from Guyana, and one from Venezuela. Their work emphasizes the extraordinary diversity of the genus and its ongoing discovery across South America. Hay, Croat, Carlsen, Llano-Almario, and López-Floriano address the typification of Anthurium section Belolonchium, clarifying a complex group. Hay and López-Floriano also publish Anthurium constantinoi, a new sinuate-leaved species from Nariño, Colombia. Z. Ma contributes two studies: the description of Schismatoglottis lihengiana from the Sino-Vietnamese border, and a revision synonymizing Arisaema pianmaense with A. nepenthoides. From Thailand, Hein, P. Saensouk, and S. Saensouk resolve the identity of Typhonium albispathum, placing it within Hayarum as its second species. Croat documents a new Anthurium of section Pachyneurium from Peru, while Delannay and Croat publish errata to recent revisions of Anthurium sections Stipitata, Interrupta, and Xialophyllium. Together, these papers highlight both the steady appearance of new taxa and the refinement of existing classifications. Richly detailed and carefully illustrated, this issue continues Aroideana’s mission to advance the understanding of the world’s remarkable aroid diversity. |
