Hi again Michael,

As a follow-up to my posting. All our plants are under automated mist, a 300 micron droplet generated by a centrifugal pump, on for 1.5 minutes every hour; no matter what medium the plants are in we feed weekly with Ascofol.

Cheers

P.

Hello Michael,

We work with three different media. Most of the smaller growing species are in pure long-strand spahgnum. A few of the very tricky species, notably Bakoa=C2=A0and some of the smallest Bucephalandra=C2=A0are in pure medium-grade (3 mm) Perlte. The robust species, such as the colonial Schismatoglottis=C2=A0and the large-growing=C2=A0Homalomena=C2=A0are in a mineral soil comprising 3 parts locally-sourced red volcanic soil (pH ca 4.5) and 1 part coarse washed river sand. We favour plastic pots of the Perlite and =C2=A0sphagnum cultures and unglazed fired terracotta for the mineral soil plants.

Best wishes

Peter

Very interesting concerning the plantlets.
In looking at the picture, what kind of growing media you are using there? Some kind of Aggregate, perlite, or a combination of ingredients ?
Thank you,
Michael Kolaczewski
