  why do I turn brown
From: "Albert & Febie" <mrknight at charter.net> on 2004.07.12 at 02:17:58(11732)
I have had problems with some of my variegated plants and rarer of my aroids. They seem to produce a new leaf and soon afterwards the leaf begins to turn a brown at no particular area. As soon as a new leaf emerges the one that was turning brown falls off. I believe it has to do with water but am not sure. The area that is brown seems to be moist. I try not to overwater. I would appreciate any help, Thanks, Albert

It may have some connection to the brand/type of fertilizer that you are using, I can not recomend a brand, but there are folks on this list that can, the type of salts contained will and can burn the leaves. 'Fluxshing' the pots every now and then with LOTS of water will help, but a change of the brand (ask on the list which are best) is better.
Good Luck,
Julius

I would be concerned about your comment that the leaves are wet looking. If this is NOT surface wetness, you may be looking at a bacterial problem. When watering try to keep the water off of the leaves. Water early in the day and not in the afternoon or evening. Look into the treatment of bacterial problems........maybe?
