Tuffy with the dormant tuber.
In April of 1999, the 24 kilograms dormant tuber is just beginning to show signs of coming out of dormancy. Note the sprouting bud protruding from the center of the previous year's petiole base scar. After planting the tuber, the inflorescence grew from this bud.
