[Aroid-l] Dracunculus canariensis and Helicodiceros tubers for sale
From: "Deni Bown" <denibown at googlemail.com> on 2008.11.22 at 16:00:43
Calling all tuberous aroid growers in Europe.  I have surplus offsets of Dracunculus canariensis and Helicodiceros muscivorus, various sizes.

Both species are very easy to grow in pots, needing frost-free conditions when in growth through autumn into spring.  You can find photos and description of Helicodiceros, the dead horse arum, in my book Aroids - Plants of the Arum Family. It's the stuff of nightmares, covered in hairs and smelling like - you guessed it - a dead horse, but extraordinarily handsome in its own way and a superb foliage plant on the run-up to flowering.

Dracunculus canariensis, the Canary Islands arum, is a very elegant plant with ivory spathes, an odd rather than repulsive odour and smart, unspotted leaves with 7-11 leaflets.

Regrettably for sale only as last time I offered to do swaps, some folks never sent me anything in return - or at least I'm still waiting, several years on!
