Re: [Aroid-l] Arisaema sukotaiense - questions
From: "Russell Coker" <cokerra at bellsouth.net> on 2009.04.21 at 22:08:22
This is my third year with sukotaiense.  My experience is that although it is tropical, it is not evergreen or even wintergreen.  For me it comes up in the spring like all of my other Arisaemas (planted in the ground as I have terrible luck in pots), loves the humid summer and begins to go dormant in late summer or early fall when the weather cools and becomes drier.  It is planted in loose, fertile, well draining soil that is on the dry side during winter.  It isn't up yet, but I'm sure it is fine.  I lifted it to see how it was doing back in the winter and it was considerably larger than the winter before.  I'm hoping for a flower this spring.

I grow fimbriatum, another "tropical" the same way.

Marek,

Aris. sukotaiense is native to Sukothai, Thailand, which is in the northwest
quadrant of the country; therefore it is a tropical species.

The plant I had several years ago got to about 30 inches tall.

Hello,

Another plant from the ID Center has been identified

My problem is that I know nothing about this species.
Can anybody tell me:
-where is it native to?
-what section does it belong to?
-how big does it grow.

Thanks in advance
Marek Argent
