Hello, IAS Members,

If you have not already received your electronic June IAS Newsletter (Issue 2 for 2010) via email, you should be receiving it very soon. There are many interesting articles in this issue including a very complete report on the 2^nd MidAmerica IAS Chapter Meeting that was held in April at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. Also of note, aroid botanist, Simon Mayo, has recently retired from Kew Gardens. In A Closer Look, you will be introduced to three up and coming aroiders from different countries. We are all saddened to learn of the death of aroider, Joe Wright, and John Banta pays tribute to him in this issue. Thanks to everyone that contributed to the June Newsletter and for those folks behind the scenes.

I am encouraging all of you to consider submitting something for the IAS Newsletter. You can write about growing plants, trips that you have taken and the aroids that you observed, tips that you want to share about how you manage your plants, aroid recipes, books that you have run across that deal with aroids–the possibilities are endless. Please think about what you would like to share with your fellow aroid enthusiasts, including your spectacular and diverse aroid color photos. This is your forum and your words and contributions are most welcome and genuinely needed.

Submissions for the August IAS Newsletter would need to be received by July 15. I really hope to hear from you soon.
