Hi All,

For a time sites like Facebook became a bigger thing than
lists (like this one), and forums as well, some of those replaced by
Reddit.

Ultimately, there is no real substitute for the email list-serve and
those that have held on may yet see a new surge.  It just proved
too great a temptation for many, the ability to pioneer ones
own 'page' on a site like f/b for many to resist.

the steady old list-serve never sells you out.  Hang in!

Thank you Jill, for the kind words!
Ugh... it looks like everything is going down the facebook hole. I don't use FB - I dislike it very much. Yes, it's a good tool, but it's way too busy and cluttered for my liking. Not to mention as above, I, too, miss the actual interaction between individuals as we are doing here.

That was a very well put description of the groups and their decline.  I am still on a couple of yahoo parrot groups but there aren't many left.  I didn't know about the facebook groups and did join them, so I really appreciate that information as well.

The Silent Seed is an amazing place!  I visited, thank you.

I think many of us are still out here, but it=E2=80=99s my impression that =E2=80=9Cnewsgroups=E2=80=9D have become victims of other internet venues, such as Facebook.  There are subgroups on FB for many of the plants which used to have their own newsgroups, in which information was exchanged mainly by text (and before high speed internet, some even restricted the posting of photos).  The new groups have become mainly place for people to post photos of their plants and perhaps ask an occasional question. This is all well and good, but truthfully, I miss the more personal conversations with the likes of Wilbert Hetterscheid, Dewey Fisk, Dr. Croat, and others too numerous to mention.
The Facebook group is:  Planet Aroid, at.   https://www.facebook.com/groups/planetaroid/?ref=3Dbookmarks
However a more comprehensive is:  The International Aroid Society at   http://www.aroid.org/society/
And, of course, with the expansion of the internet, more specialized has become available for many of the plants we know and love.

How many people are actually still on here?
(That's a honest question.)

What's the best way to root Rhaphidophora decursiva cuttings? I have them tightly wrapped in sphagnum moss at the moment, but don't want them to rot.

Thanks
