Orders for Amorphophallus lewallei
|
From: "Wilbert Hetterscheid" hetter at worldonline.nl> on 2000.03.15 at 22:52:26(4217)
Folks,
Those of you who ordered Amorphophallus lewallei and don't get any tubers
(you don't know that yet, so DON'T ASK!), may be willing to wait some for
seeds. We have a developing infructescence with probably enough seeds to
make everybody happy a few weeks from now.
What say if we ship the seeds in padded envelopes....... This brilliant idea
just occurred to me.....
Cheers,
Wilbert

Wilbert,
Film canisters would probably be the safest as the heavy steel rollers of mail
processing equipment would still put tremendous pressure on the seeds, even
through the padding - speaking from experience.
Could you please put me down for some?
Thank you,
Bonaventure Magrys

Bonaventure,
If you ordered Amorphs, then you're in. If you didn't then you're out (or
get leftovers). I am sure you're right aboyut the canisters but I don't know
if Leiden staff goes that far. This IS a HUGE undertaking for them as it is.
I must be careful not to annoy them.
Cheers,
Wilbert

Wilbert,
I agree with Bonaventure. Some small tubers of Asterostigma pavonii you
sent me two years ago was sadly crushed in 2D chips and it was in a padded
envelope. People at Selby Gardens sent titanum seeds in a small case for
audio K7 tapes. They arrived in good shape, but I don't know if they are
available there in Netherlands (or if they are cheap enough).
Best wishes,
Eduardo.

P.S. My Amorph. seeds you sent in common envelopes are now thiner than
herbarium specimens!

O.k., I have had it with all advices now. I have said that I am doing what I
can. If that's not enough, well, buy a ticket to Holland and come and
geddit.
Also I'd like to ask everybody NOT to email me about the additional
Dracontiums. I have said: whoever ordered Amorphs, will get a an extra few
Dracontiums. I can't be clearer, now can I? Let me finish this round of
sending material in piece and quiteness, o.k.! Thanks all.
Wilbert
