Alocasia cultivars again
From: DBurch2345 at aol.com on 2000.04.03 at 22:01:42(4335)
Thanks to everyone for responding on this. I still have most of the original
question unanswered, though. I had been using Alocasia xportora as the
name on the basis of David Burnett's opus in Aroideana 7: 149 and Larry
Garner's article in Aroideana 6:77. Garner seems to establish that name
very clearly with his mention of it and discussion of the parentage plus the
picture on page 81.
If this is the case, then "Portadora" is possibly a later name, and it is
unfortunate that this is the one that has been picked up and promulgated with
the micropropagation material from Agristarts. Any comments on this?
