i was there in april 1999, did i write a short report to the list? what i remember most about it was how beautiful and messy the whole estate was. but it has a gorgeous collection, and did you see the giant Montrichardias? they let us in the growing shadehouses, which is where these were. also, i can't recall but i think i saw Cyrtosperma (-um?) growing in ponds. and yes, the place is beautiful and if you are ever in the "cidade maravilhosa" (rio), you should go visit. you need to call ahead for an appointment. there were lots of Philodendrons indeed but i'm not well versed in them so i didn't notice them as much as i did Anthuriums and others.
