I am unfamiliar with Symphysodon. You've got me intrigued as to what it
looks like. Does anyone know of a site that shows these plants?

Cheers.

If you search Symphysodon on the Web, there are many many sites including
the Discus Study Group and the various wild forms and range of natural and
very un-natural hybrids. Keeping Discus is an all consuming occupation! It
is often called "The King" of FW "Aquarium" Fishes. The Parents care for
the fry which feed from the skin of their parents initially.
