Anthurium faustinomarindeae

From: "denis at skg.com" denisskg at bellsouth.net> on 2002.11.11 at 18:48:41(9612) Anthurium faustinomirandeae, is Southern Mexican Anthurium from the Atlantic Coastal plateau of Chiapis. It was first introduced to South Florida by the late Monroe Birdsey who grew it in the bright shade his yard under the pine trees. He mistakenly identified it as A. titanum (synonymous with A. xanthosomafolium) which is also large Anthurium from Chiapis but from a mountainous area at higher altitude. Just recently Dr Tom Croat from Missouri Botanic Garden in St Louis as a new species and named it after Faustino Miranda the man who first collected it and put in the botanic garden in Chiapis. Anyway, we originally sold them as A. xanthosomafolium and then A. titanum and just recently have corrected our price list to show the true name. It makes an excellent landscape plant under bright shade here in south Florida. it has leaves 3 feet by 3 feet and looks spectacular in a large specimen pot on a patio or atrium.
