THE BOOKS ARE HERE!!!!!!
The truck just left and I have seven very heavy boxes of books.
Now, all I have to do is to figure out how to get my nose out of 'MY COPY'
long enough to get some work done today...
It is a very large book... 8 1/2 x 11 3/4 inches... Color photography is
magnificient and the line drawings are better than any I have seen. The
index and chapter headings make it a snap to find anything.. There is
also and index in the front of the inside hard cover giving page numbers of
all of the genera...
This book is now the Bible of Araceae.... Bar none!!!!!
If you still have not ordered and want a copy... Private e-mail to me
and I will put you on the list... Cost is 75 British
Pounds... We will get the conversion rate when Peter gets here.....
Wow! What a book!!!!!!!!

I've often been frustrated by floods of "XYZ is so wonderful" on
mailing lists, but it seems not enough good has been said of
Genera_of_Araceae (or my mail server is backed up). I received
my copy on Saturday and was quite impressed. The book is
absolutely wonderful. The ".pdf" on cdrom in the back cover was
a great idea as well. It installed hassle free and will save
wear and tear on the book. Bravo to all involved. Rumor has
it that the IAS still has copies...

I received my copy of the marvelous aroid tome late last week. It is well
worth the price! Thanks again to Peter and the other authors for all their
years of hard, thorough work and to Dewey for making arrangements to get
these books to us. Although I'm not a botanist, I've had sufficient
training in animal (fish) taxonomy and evolutionary biology to appreciate
all the skill, knowledge, dedication, and study that it must have taken to
put this magnificent and extremely informative work together.
To those who have held off purchasing this book, its 382 pages are
copiously illustrated with excellent distribution maps, pen-and-ink
drawings, and color photographs, and a CD-ROM version of the book in PDF
format comes with it as well. There are detailed sections on aroid
history, anatomy, evolution, biology, and ecology in addition to the
taxonomic section which makes up the bulk of the book.
This the kind of limited edition, comprehensive scientific monograph that
will never decrease in value, and its value on the antiquarian natural
history book market will likely sky-rocket when it eventually goes out of
print, even faster and higher than that of Deni Bown's "Aroids" book did.

"The Gena of Araceae" by Bogner, Mayo and Boyce has been mentioned several
times recently. The International Aroid Society has this 'bible'
available!!!!!
Not only do you get the very impressive volume but there is also a CD that
will put the entire book on your computer. This is very impressive....
Send your check for $135.00 to the IAS, P. O. Box 43-1853, South Miami,
Florida.... and please mark it for 'Genera'... or something that will
tell us what it is for....
I would appreciate it if a couple of you would expound on the virtues of
this book. It is sort of a high price to pay for a book and lots of folks
might be a little hesitant.... Would need a little encouragement to spend
this much for a book.. Tell all what you think...
Thanks....

Dear Aroid friends,
I`d like to take this opportunity to put in a 'plug' for this marvelous
volume. It is THE reference work for all known genera of Aroids, wonderful
line drawings of all genea, and a great description of the details that
allow the experts (and us, if we take the time to read, learn and
understand!) to defrentiate between genera. Lots of fantastic color (!)
photos at the back, lots of very interesting discussions on ALL aspects
concerning Aroids. A warning, some of the text may be too scientificly
detailed for some of us, after all it is a scientific book first and
formost, but overall very interesting writing by several authors.!!
I would not hesitate to recomend this book HIGHLY to all of us who like/love
Aroids, and who like to aquire more information on all of them!!
I have heard it said that all species are not mentioned or pictured, but
remember this is on the genera, not species of Aroids!
GREAT book! WELL worth the asking price!!!
Good growing,
Julius
