But, in my case, they act as a ground cover and help to prevent erosion. Hilo has the highest rainfall in the U. S. The Spaths (and Monsteras) also become a problem when they invade the banana clumps and my fruit trees. I do agree that lawns are a pain in the grass especially when they grow 1/2" a day without fertilizer. My best to all, Gary
