Yes, Hermine...you see this being sold by the truck load on Ebay. AL is one of the states that has outlawed many plants. I couldn't get most of the floating pond plants if I paid a handsome ransom for them.
Wish they would outlaw blackberries...I have a constant battle with them here and it is quite painful to remove them. The fruit is inferior because they are so crowded into thickets....no, I didn't plant them. The birds did....
I would rather see them make war on the dang fire ants, though. That is my worst enemy...b.f.n...deb/S.AL

Subject: Re: [Aroid-l] Great Pistia!
there is a wonderful aquarium plant, most of us who had aquaria as children will remember this, it is called Anacharis. in England where it was introduced, it grew so rampantly as to impede boat travel in waterways. it was known as BABBINGTON'S CURSE, after the responsible botanist.but what do I know. everything here in THE WEST is introduced, Eucalyptus, tumbleweeds, (an illegal alien i believe native to Russia, and considerable pest) and about 85% of what is grown in north America for food, forage, ornament, and lumber is introduced.Gondwana. An idea whose time has come, again.hermine _______________________________________________

Near the Alekai Swamp in Hawaii i got badly attacked by wild
blackberries. I thought i would need a transfusion!

We have non-fire ants, but that is a mere classification; they swarm and
attack and bite, leaving welts and somehow, formic acid in sweat dribbles
into my eyeballs. I understand in some places pyracantha forms huge
humps, twining around itself and throttling everything else in its path,
whereas in other places, it behaves like a lawn shrub.
I have no solution for this, by the way.
there is one single thing, mebbe a kudzu, growing on my property. makes
no inroads. ekes out a bare existence.
