Trudy the Titan is Back

As you can see from the attached photo, the corm is not sprouting from the same spot where it bloomed last year, but appears to have started a new growing point right next to it. (I have no idea if this is normal behavior or not) Any ideas? I always thought that titan arum should be cultivated in slightly damp soil, that means that the tuber should be covered. Most of my aroids I keep in their pots completely covered and slightly moist. Even though I use a very loose mix of 2 parts pumice to 1 part potting soil I am a bit paranoid about losing the titan so I vacuum the soil off the top of the corm so I can check its condition and re-bury it and start watering when it starts to sprout.
