Greetings everyone,
Back in September when lots of ideas seemed good, I floated the thought of
aroid consumption as a possible "colloquium" topic for the next issue of
Aroideana. There were several positive responses so in order to proceed I
have to find out exactly what might interest a substantial number of our
members. We have had in the past some articles that listed a number of
aroids used in a particular area. Would lists like that, done for what might
amount to food in several generalized or specialized areas (the sort of
'schools of cooking' that someone like Time-Life publishing might decide
were self-contained, distinctive units) be a good start, complemented by
more anecdotal coverage of certain areas? This topic would exclude medicinal
uses except as incidental mentions.
Obviously we could only devote twenty to forty pages of an issue to this
aspect of the family, but I do have the impression that a number of members
have an interest and experience in this area.
Please let me have some feedback. If it is a bad idea, let's stop it now
rather than bitching after it is in print. An alternative subject is also
possible: suggestions welcome.
