That's right, next year's volume before this year's is even out.

Just as I was getting ready to aestivate, I got an offer of help that I
couldn't refuse. This is all part of trying to give Aroideana appeal to more
of our members. I tried in Vol. 30 to get submissions on germination of
seeds and early growth, and got some nice contributions. What it really
needed, though, is for the effort to be orchestrated so that the whole
subject gets the advantage of the expertise of various members in different
parts of the topic, rather than just turning people loose and getting
several approaches to the whole subject that may have repeated some basic

Well, for next year, I have the advantage of some good sound thinkers to get
whatever topic we choose split up between several invited contributors plus
as many others who care to join in.

First the topic; what is your feeling about tackling the growing of aroids
in pots. We all know that pot culture is very unnatural, and that an aroid
in the wild may spread its roots over a large area. What have been the
successful approaches to giving our plants the best substitute for this room
to grow that we can. For us in South Florida, and for members lucky enough
to have a greenhouse, the solution is often to avoid pot culture entirely by
growing in beds or in the ground outside, but even when that is the long
term intention, there are always in few in pots or tied with pantyhose to
various substrates until the roots take over.

So what about this as a topic? And who are the experts with the knowledge to
share? You don't have to volunteer, although that would be nice: Somebody
blow the whistle on the shy people and let us try to talk them round.

And, if not this topic, then what ???? Share your thoughts.
