  Dieffenbachia ID from Ecuador
From: "Elizabeth Campbell" <desinadora at mail2designer.com> on 2009.12.27 at 16:26:53(20412)

Hi all,

Quick question - does anybody out there recognize this Dieffenbachia? I was given a cutting from somebody's garden plant; they said it was collected near Mera in Pastaza. I've been to those woods and I haven't seen anything even remotely like this one. What's throwing me, I think, is that the leaves are all but solid and the petioles are variegated.

Thanks!

Beth

Dear Beth:

I have two species listed fromthat area that may be this one. One I am calling D. tarabitensis Croat and theother D. holm-nielsenii Croat. At the moment I don’t know which it bestfits since they may differ mostly in herbarium specimen characters.
