Any Peru sources? and also Ecuador Trip

Brian, I'm in Ecuador and unless what you're looking for is a rare endemic, chances are it grows here as well. If you let us know which plant you're after, I can look into it.

Jason - have fun. That's the peak of mosquito and blackfly season in Esmeraldas!

HI Elizabeth,

Do you ever see anyone growing/propagating any of the Hippeastrum from that
part of the world where you are? Another Peru endemic that I have and
fortunately flowered, but would love another clone of is Paramongaia if
people in Ecuador are growing that for the flower market.

I agree with a previous post: Karel Knize is difficult if you want
correctly identified plants delivered in reasonable condition as I have
personally dealt with him before.

I hope that your trip is going well,

Dan

Dan - I'm not sure on that genus specifically, but a lot of the Amaryllidaceae (and particularly Ecuadorian and Peruvian endemics) are grown here for cut flowers so it's certainly possible. I can ask around the flower growers and see what I turn up - my friend Marco will almost certainly know if anybody does.
