Cryptocoryne Starch Grains

Starch grains in crown cells within a cross section of the aroid Cryptocoryne usteriana. This picture focuses on the abundant small objects crammed into the cell structure of this section. The objects are somewhat regular but not strictly geometrical. It is thought that these could be starch grains stored within the "stem" of this plant, which is a thickened part of the crown to which leaves are or have been attached in the past.
