If ever two species caused problems of identifying these are the ones: A. franchetianum and A. fargesii . The pictures here represent two extremes of a continuum of forms, varying mainly in degree of curvature of the spathe hood. After investigating many, many plants in cultivation, comparing the original diagnoses etc., Pascal Bruggeman and I came to conclude that there is no stable character combination to separate these two "species" definitively. Therefore I have treated them on this website as one species, A. franchetianum.
