  Folial Feeding ?
From: "hanson, skip" <hanson_skip at emc.com> on 2004.03.01 at 18:40:58(11204)
All,
Hello. I have a small greenhouse FULL of aroids. Being in N. California
it
is not very humid. I recently bought a small humidifier to make my plants
happier.

I want to try a very diluted
liquid
fertilizer in the humidifier but I am not daring enough to just try it. I
wonder if anyone has tried this ? If so, what were the results etc. ?
Thanks,
Skip

I would be very reluctant to try this. Unless your humidifier is of
the atomizer type (actually disperser droplets of water into the air)
you will never get any fertilizer into the air at all (e.g.
evaporative or wick-type humidifiers). Even with the atomizer type,
any fertilizer that does become airborne may well end up on more than
just your plants (e.g your lungs).

Best to use a sprayer of some type with which you can directly spray
the foliage.

This would not be very healthy for you to breathe in. Why not just make up
the dilute solution in a spray bottle or small garden sprayer if you have
too many plants to comfortably hand spray, and spray the leaves once every
couple of weeks? It could also wreck a humidifier to put anything but water
into it...b.f.n...deb/AL
