my question to you amorph growers is: what makes an
amorph plant grow huge, happily, for one season, as a
matter of fact, grow so well that it completely
depletes its tuber? i've lost two giant tubers i had
of paeoniifolius and longituberosus. both grew sturdy
stems, lots of leaflets, but to my surprise, after
they went dormant, there was no tuber left. these
were grown in pots indoors, not in a greenhouse or
garden.

Dear tsuh yang,
how where the growing conditions of the plants?
Esp, fertilization.....

It is not understandable that a tuberous aroid does not grow a new
tuber, if growing conditions and fertilization where OK.
Better growing next time,
Bernhard.

Dear Tsuh Yang,
This has happened to me as well, with a large konjac
tuber that grew a leaf over 5 feet tall and probably
3.5inches in diameter (152 cm and approx 9cm). I dug
up the tuber in fall and ....nothing. Mine was grown
in the ground. At the time I thought it had put all
its energy into putting up a large leaf, and didn't
have time after that to get carbohydrates or whatever
built up to form a new tuber- needed a longer growing
period. I don't know- it was very strange.

I have a 3 year old titan. It measures about ' tall. When I went to repot
it months ago, there was no tuber at all. I put it back in new soil and
it's still growing. I haven't checked on the tuber.
