  [Aroid-l] Philodendron question
From: "Russ" chammer at cfl.rr.com> on 2005.09.13 at 18:20:20(13353)
Anyone know how large, the maximum size, a leaf of P. 'Painted Lady' can
grow?

I may have one of the old McColley hybrids with leaves about 18 inches to 2
feet long, with new leaf colors the same as 'Painted Lady', bright yellow
with some oranges, and green flecking. But I've never known it to grow
this large. This is from Alberts and Merkel's. A second Philo, from the
same source, has leaves 2 feet long but only 5 inches wide or so, far too
long and narrow to be 'Painted Lady'. This also has the same new leaf
colors as 'Painted Lady', and I'm pretty sure it's a McColley. Which makes
me think the other one with shorter leaves is also a McColley hybrid.

These 2 hybrids, plus lots of smaller 'Painted Lady's on are all growing on
the same bench at Merkel's. I've
had these 2 for many years, along with 'Painted Lady', and always thought
they were different.
