It also blooms reliably and dreadfully at 3ft plus. It may not be something to plant in a prominent position, or too near the house, though the foliage and stems are quite handsome. Having said that, if only I could get my hands on the pale form it would become a centerpiece. Years ago I saw a large colony in Crete which had a huge range of variation in spathe & spadix colour, from palest green with yellow spadix to marbled maroon and pale green with either yellow or burgundy spadix. For better or worse, when the first one was planted right next to the fromt door- big mistake though the stench is fortunately short lived! Oldest one was almost 4' tall this year.
