Here in Norfolk, England,
Dracunculus vulgaris also stays
out all year but against a sunny wall. It also blooms reliably and
dreadfully at 3ft plus. It may not be something to plant in a prominent
position, or too near the house, though the foliage and stems are quite
handsome. Having said that, if only I could get my hands on the pale form
it would become a centerpiece. Years ago I saw a large colony in Crete
which had a huge range of variation in spathe & spadix colour, from palest
green with yellow spadix to marbled maroon and pale green with either yellow or
burgundy spadix. Simply stunning!
