The Congo Forest at the Bronx Zoo
From: Piabinha at aol.com on 1999.08.24 at 19:07:35(3596)
saturday, i had a chance to visit the new congo exhibit at the bronx zoo. it
was a nice visit and it seemed that i was the only one who was as interested
in the vegetation as in the animals. interestingly enough they were using
lots of Amorphophallus in the plantings (which were mostly outdoors). there
were at least 2 different species, but i couldnt' id them, one of them had a
green slender inflorescence. there was also an interesting 3-part leaf aroid
emerging from the ground. i assume these were all african, not asian,
species, as i imagine they would try to mimick the central african
environment.
