Dear Claire,
There are great illustrations of all you need on Page 108 of 'The Genera of
Araceae' by S J Mayo, J Bogner and P C Boyce, ISBN I 900347 22 9
You will see that there are divisions on the spadix, and every one of these
'divisions' (which is an immature fruit called a gynoecium) contains two
chambers which are locules, and each locule contains one ovule. Hope this
is of help.
