Orontium aquaticum

I just wanted to make a brief report. I am in Georgia for a few months, and have found Orontium aquaticum common in Okefenokee. I was surprised to see every plant in bloom, since most plants are dormant right now. In the Suwanee Canal, they grow as emergent aquatics, under a Cyrilla racemiflora canopy with some bald-cypress. Regular "house fly" type flies are the apparent pollinators. On the Chesser "Prairie," actually a shallow lake, they also grow as energent aquatics, and are one of three codominant species, the other two being Nymphaea sp. and Utricularia sp. I was unable to see the pollinator here. Since I will be in Okefenokee several times over these next months, I will continue watching the plants; hopefully, I will see at least the beginning of fruit development.
