Such is the case with quite many Spathiphyllum cultivars. The name Spathiphyllum 'Alpha' in itself is enough to identify the cultivar and keep its name unique. Why would you go to lenghts to try to discover if it has the right to have a species name as well? It may even be misleading. Sorry, rather depressing answer, isn't it?
