Dear Michael,

You can pass on to your friend that in MY opinion, this plant could NEVER
become endangered ANYWHERE, especially in its home range, UNLESS it is
suddenly discovered that it works better than Viagra! Here in Florida we
can not get rid of it as a weed in greenhouses! It keeps showing back up
like a bad smell even when we dilegently try to eradicate it by pulling up
all that we can find, and this is in a small confined area! Next growing
season, here it comes again! Small tuberlets that must get left in the
ground when weeding, and even fallen leaves will sprout into new plants!
Tell your friend to reserve his worry for some other plant, such as the
giant Amorphophallus' in Asia whose huge tubers are being harvested by the
truckload from the wild to be used as starch.

Cheers,

Julius
