Dear Angel,

The juvinile stages/plants of certain climbing aroids (the best known
genus that does this is Monstera) produce leaves thay lie FLAT and partially
overlapping on the surface that they are climbing/attached to and the leaves
thus have the pattern of 'shingle' tiles on a roof.
