hi all,

many may not know about this wonderful resource that is the "plant of the week" feature of the botany department of the smithsonian institution. some of the researchers there specialize in a few families, most notably Commelinaceae, Zingiberaceae and other Zingiberales, Gesneriaceae, and some Araceae (the plant collection manager there, mike bordelon, is a member of aroid-l, i believe); also some lesser known but very interesting families like Rapateaceae. i was fortunate to visit the collections twice, although they are unfortunately not open to the public.

anyway, here's the link to the plant of the week, which is currently another Comm.
